Please read this disclaimer carefully before using Heritage Watch (heritagewatchbc.ca). By accessing or using this website, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to the terms set out below.
1. Not Legal Advice
The information published on Heritage Watch — including articles, issue summaries, bylaw analyses, petition descriptions, heritage property profiles, council meeting summaries, and any other content — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It does not constitute, and must not be relied upon as, legal advice of any kind.
Heritage Watch is not a law firm and does not employ lawyers in any advisory capacity. No content on this website creates a solicitor-client relationship between Heritage Watch and any reader or user. The application of heritage, zoning, municipal, or property law varies significantly depending on individual circumstances, and the law changes frequently.
If you require legal advice regarding a heritage designation, development permit, bylaw challenge, property rights, or any other legal matter, you should consult a qualified lawyer licensed to practise in British Columbia. Heritage Watch expressly disclaims any liability arising from reliance on the information published on this site as a substitute for professional legal counsel.
2. No Political Party Affiliation
Heritage Watch is an independent, non-partisan community advocacy organisation. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, funded by, or acting on behalf of any federal, provincial, or municipal political party, political action committee, electoral district association, or election campaign — including but not limited to any party currently represented on Langley Township Council or Langley City Council.
Our mission is to educate residents about heritage conservation and to support civic engagement on heritage-related issues. When we report on council votes, elected officials' positions, or municipal decisions, we do so as an independent community observer. Such reporting reflects factual accounts of public proceedings and does not constitute an endorsement of, or opposition to, any political party or candidate.
Heritage Watch does not accept donations, sponsorships, or direction from any political party or candidate. Any resemblance between our advocacy positions and those of a political party is coincidental and does not imply affiliation.
3. No Municipal or Government Affiliation
Heritage Watch is a community-driven, independent advocacy website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or acting as an agent of:
- The Corporation of the Township of Langley
- The City of Langley
- The Province of British Columbia
- The Government of Canada
- Parks Canada or the Fort Langley National Historic Site
- The Langley Heritage Society or any other heritage organisation
- Any other government body, Crown corporation, or public authority
References to the Township of Langley, the City of Langley, and other government bodies on this website are made solely for the purpose of identifying the relevant jurisdiction and providing factual context about public decisions. Such references do not imply any official relationship, approval, or endorsement.
Official information about municipal bylaws, heritage designations, development permits, and council decisions should always be verified directly with the relevant municipality. Heritage Watch makes reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy but cannot guarantee that all information is current, complete, or error-free.
