History & Stories

The Story of Glen Valley

Glen Valley developed in the northeastern part of the Township, adjacent to the Fraser River. The first Glen Valley School opened in 1885 on the Gilbert McKay farm, and the Glen Valley Post Office opened in 1904.

Overview

The Canadian Northern Railway had a whistle stop in Glen Valley, connecting the community to regional networks. After World War I, the Soldiers' Settlement Board made land available, leading to new homesteads. The Glen Valley Dyking and Drainage District was formed to manage the Fraser River's influence on the agricultural floodplain. Today, Glen Valley remains one of Langley's most rural and scenic communities.
